Pink Buckets for a Cure?!

Just when I think the fast food industry can’t surprise me, I see visions of crispy fried chicken housed in a pepto-colored cardboard buckets. Nope, this is not Paris Hilton’s next commercial à la Carl’s Jr Burger, but rather the product of KFC’s new partnership with the Susan B. Komen Foundation. Let me not beat around the bush…I HATE this idea.  So the Colonel is raising money for cancer while selling food that increases the risk of diabetes, heart attacks and all manner of other health problems.  Really??  The SBK Foundation couldn’t find a better partnership?!  I saw this and at first thought it was a joke.

They are trying to raise breast cancer awareness by helping promote a product that prominent in lower-income, minority areas.  Given recent research suggesting a link between obesity and breast cancer, and the disproportionate presence of KFC in minority communities, the Komen Foundation’s partnership with this fried chicken extablishment is just plain old irresponsible.  Komen Foundation, pull the plug on this one.  Pronto.
